Insights to the Seminar: Space for Medicine
03/17/2025

On March 12th at 10 AM, the online seminar Space for Medicine took place, highlighting innovative applications of space technology in medicine. Organized by the Technology Centre Prague, the event attracted many experts and those interested in European Space Agency (ESA) grants.
The key speakers were:
-
Dr. Müller from the Masaryk Oncology Institute in Brno, presenting his research on cancer treatment in microgravity aboard the International Space Station (ISS).
-
Mr. Sandroni from Svarovsky, showcasing a groundbreaking white cane incorporating ESA Spark Funding-supported technology.
Breakthrough in Cancer Treatment in Microgravity
The experiment "Comprehensive Analysis for Neoplastic Cell Expansion and Regulation in Microgravity" explores how cancer cells behave in the unique conditions of space. The findings could identify key genes influencing tumor growth, potentially leading to new cancer treatments.
Innovation for the Visually Impaired
Svarovsky, a leading European manufacturer of white canes, has integrated a cutting-edge SPAD sensor into a smart cane. This revolutionary device enhances mobility for visually impaired individuals by providing real-time awareness of their surroundings through acoustic signals or vibrations.
Thank you to all participants, and we look forward to future events!
