The success of cascade funding with EENergy project
05/29/2026
On April 30, 2026 the EENergy project was concluded and this cascade funding initiative, implemented with the support of the Enterprise Europe Network, had proven to be a Europe-wide success in supporting SMEs on their path toward energy independence and the achievement of enhanced sustainability objectives. The Technology Centre Prague, a member of the international consortium, also contributed to the project.
Across both calls, a total of 3.256 companies received consulting services and were prepared for financing with the support of Enterprise Europe Network Sustainability Advisors. Of these, 2.543 were deemed eligible and advanced to the randomization stage. Among them, 623 were identified as representatives of energy-intensive industries, characterized by high energy expenditures relative to their turnover.
Following randomization, 950 companies were ultimately contracted for financing across both calls. In total, €7.620.872,01 was invested through the EENergy project to support SME sustainability, resilience, and energy independence. When combined with co-financing from participating companies, this resulted in a total investment of €12.705.000,75 in sustainability improvements for SMEs across the Single Market.
The average expenditure per SME was €15.861,42. The most common areas of project implementation included the installation of alternative energy sources (such as solar panel systems and heat pumps), measures to prevent energy losses (including insulation, replacement of windows and doors, and modernization of heating systems), the transition to more energy-efficient technologies (such as upgrading equipment, lighting, ventilation systems, and IT infrastructure, including servers), as well as energy efficiency training and consultancy services.
In the Czech Republic, the project’s activities were coordinated by the Technology Centre Prague. Thirty-nine Czech companies applied to the project, 19 of which received funding.
Two success stories – the Novosad & syn Harrachov glassworks and the start-up Ekustik – illustrate the project’s significance for Czech companies.
